Dr. Chad Briggs - Co-PI - Leadership
Chad Briggs, PhD is Director of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Alaska Anchorage, and principal at Global Interconnections LLC. He has a PhD in political science from Carleton University in Canada, and specializes in translation of complex scientific data into risk assessments and strategic planning. The last few years he was based in Kosovo and Ukraine, focusing on hybrid warfare and cyber operations.
From 2010-2012 he was Minerva Chair of Energy and Environmental Security at the Air University, United States Air Force, where he led a team of researchers in identifying and assessing critical risks and vulnerabilities to military operations and strategies. He previously worked as Team Leader under the Energy and Environmental Security Directorate at the US Dept of Energy, and from 2008-2010 was Senior Advisor for International Security Affairs and Special Advisor on Climate Change and Strategic Assessment. In 2005-06, 2008, and 2010 Dr. Briggs was a Fulbright Professor to Budapest and Berlin, and he also attended school in France, Norway, Hungary, Ireland, Germany, the UK and Serbia.
His latest book, Disaster Security (co-authored with Miriam Matejova), was published by Cambridge University Press in 2019.
